Burnet receives some funding to help our medical research and public health programs from a range of organisations such as the National Health and Medical research Council, the peak medical research funding body in Australia. Because of the international reputation of our work, we also receive some funding from the US-based National Institutes of Health as well as other partner organisations.
Burnet is also accredited with AusAID, the Federal Government’s overseas development agency to work in countries which have a need to address health issues such as prevention of infectious diseases, policy development, women’s and children’s health, primary health care, education and training and general capacity building for health systems. Overseas we might work with a range of other non-government organisations such as World Vision, Plan Australia or Save the Children to implement some of our health programs or with other small local agencies.
While our partners are critical in helping Burnet undertake its important work we need to raise additional funds from our other partners, YOU the community, to also support our work so that we really make a big difference in Australia and overseas to help people in their fight against infectious diseases, cancers and inflammatory diseases.
You can become a supporter of Burnet by becoming a regular donor. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you support does make a big difference to our laboratory-based research and public health programs.
